Plywood FSF

Plywood FSF is most popular in the construction industry due the following properties:

  • enhanced moisture resistance (can preserve its properties for a long period of time even outdoors);
  • low water solubility;
  • increased strength (the degree of strength depends on the sheet thickness and type of veneer used);
  • Wear resistance.

Such properties of plywood FSF can be accounted for by the use of high-quality veneer and phenol-formaldehyde resins for its production.

However plywood FSF is known by its constant emissions of formaldehyde. In view of high toxic effect of this substance, plywood FSF is not used for interior decoration and furniture production.

Plywood FK

Moisture-resistant plywood FK is a modern material widely used for the purposes of construction and decoration works. Water resistant plywood sheets are successfully used in advertising industry for the production of various outdoor advertising objects. Such structures neither distort, nor change their characteristics under the influence of such weather conditions, as rain, snow, temperature variations.

Moisture-resistant plywood is perfect for external and internal furnishing of various structures. Due to its properties plywood FK increases coefficient of sound and thermal insulation.

Laminated formwork plywood

Throughout the ages wood or sawn timber has been considered as the best material for formwork production. With the raise of monolithic construction, these materials have been replaced by formwork plywood, whereby the laminated plywood has become the most demanded. Such popularity is accounted for by its glazed surface from which concrete or mortar easily separates. The material itself does not suffer from contacts with concrete and other mortar mixtures. Therefore it is unofficially called “formwork facing”.

Laminated plywood

Laminated plywood is a popular modern material widely used in different construction spheres.

Moisture-resistant plywood

Plywood has been used as a construction material in different areas of human activities long enough. Over the time new materials and technologies have been introduced into plywood production.

The contemporary plywood is a unique construction material made from thin layers of wood veneer arranged at right angles (mostly consisting of an odd number). After being treated with special glue solutions comprising different types of polymers, these layers are pressed at high temperature and pressure.

Water-resistant plywood

Plywood of increased water-resistance is a material made of many layers of natural veneer fixed to each other with a phenol-formaldehyde glue. The manufacturer process includes perpendicular overlaying of sheets, which provides for enhanced strength properties of the material. Depending on the grain flow of the face layer, the plywood can be either longitudinal or transverse.

Fiberboards

Fiberboards are widely used for the production of furniture, doors, floor coatings, interior items. Fiberboards are made from woodworking or logging residuals, which are broken down and then are pressed and dried. Depending on the production technology applied, the fiberboards can be dried with or without a synthetic resin.

If you have purchased fiberboards, it means that you have acquired a material distinguished by easy processing, moisture resistance, enhanced strength characteristics. Fiberboard items are not susceptible to mould, fungi, insects. Fiberboards are known for their low weight, which makes their transportation and erection much easier.

Classification of plywood by grades

Subject to GOST the following five grades are distinguished based on the appearance of the outer layers of plywood surface: Е (elite), 1(В), 2(ВВ), 3(СР), 4(С). The sheets are marked by two digits separated with slash. The first digit corresponds to the grade of face layer, the second one - to that of the reverse layer.

  • Plywood of Grade 1/2
  • Plywood of Grade 1/3
  • Plywood of Grade 2/2
  • Plywood of Grade 2/3
  • Plywood of Grade 2/4
  • Plywood of Grade 3/4
  • Plywood of Grade 4/4
  • Plywood of Grade 4/4 CT
  • Plywood of Grade 3/3 CX/CX
  • Plywood of Grade F/F 1

Classification of plywood by surface

Plywood FK and FSF made from veneer of different species of wood is subjected to sanding. This procedure allows eliminating various scratches, stains and thus making the surface even, smooth, and attractive. Depending on the degree of such processing of surface, the material is classified as sanded and not sanded.

Marking according to GOST

  • Plywood NS (not sanded),
  • Plywood S1 (one-side sanded),
  • Plywood S2 (two-sides sanded).

Classification of plywood by thickness

  • High-grade plywood 3mm, 4mm, 6mm, 6.5mm, 8mm thick is widely used in souvenir production, model aeroplane flying, automobile construction and shipbuilding.
  • The material of medium thickness (9mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm) is popular in construction, furniture production, shipbuilding, car-building and advertising business. It is demanded for roofing, production of packages, trays and pallets.
  • Thicker sheets of plywood (such as 18mm, 20mm, 21mm, 24mm, 27mm, 30mm, 35mm, 40mm thick) might withstand heavy loads. Therefore this material is widely demanded in the areas where material strength and safety are of priority importance, i.e. for the construction of interior structures, load-bearing elements of furniture, construction of formwork.
